This is a fascinating collection of medieval writing for anyone interested in the development of Christian doctrine.
Gottschalk, a "rebellious" monk, stirred up controversy with his teaching on double predestination during the Carolingian renaissance of the 9th century.
Within these texts, one can note the theological tensions in the western church that would eventually lead to the reformation, though not for a few hundred more years.
The editing and translation work is excellent. I highly recommend it!
